Project Owner/s
Renewable-energy solutions provider Scatec. It will be the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) service provider, holding an EPC share of about 90% of the total capital expenditure. The company will also act as the asset manager, and operations and maintenance service provider.

Project Description
The project involves the construction of a 1.1 GW Solar PV and 100 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system.

This project will be instrumental in Egypt Aluminium’s efforts to decarbonise its aluminium production and comply with the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism requirements, which take effect in 2026.

$650-million, which will be funded by an estimated 80% nonrecourse project debt, and the remainder by equity.

Scatec aims to reach financial close and start construction within the next 12 months.

Scatec signed signed a power purchase agreement with aluminium producer Egypt Aluminium in March 2025.
